Oslo day 9
Tuesday, October 11, 2011, 5:40 AM
We woke up early morning at 7.30am to prepare and have breakfast of milk.. Pure milk and chocolate milk which we bought the previous day at NOK35+NOK17 with our weetbit... Then was off to the city hall to catch the H.M.K 4th city tour at NOK340 x 5... Went around city centre mostly holmen kolf street then was to the sculpture park with the theme circle of life where we walked thru and saw the angry boy statue.. Outside the exit where our bus was waiting there was a cemetery but it was the most peaceful one I have ever seen... With little graves and flowers decorating the graves, it didn't look scary but was peaceful and quiet... Then was to the ski jump.. Where we tried the simulator that went 130km/h for 4 mins... Cost NOK55 x 4 since dad didn't dare to try... But it wasn't as spectacular as I expected... Lousy experience... Made me hope that I could skip and really feel the wind in my hair... Wonder how those professional skier does it... They look so cool during winter sports... If only I was born in a country with four seasons... The guide left 2 persons to take the german speaking bus as we were supposed to be on schedule to be back at the city centre.. So no choice but to leave 2 Indians who was supposed to be on the bus at the ski jump... Back at the city hall to pick up new passengers for the rest of the tour...

Then was off to the viking museum where we saw 3 voicing ships dating back to about 800 a.d... One was almost 90% preserved and reminder was reconstructed... Guide specially mentioned in all the past years she has been telling visitors that the 2 bodies found buried with the boat was an old rich lady with her young maid servant but it wasn't true as after there was dan, they tested the bodies to be 50 and 80 years old when they died... Leaving them to be some kind of royalty to be hurried with such grand burial of 8 horses, 5 dogs and even a peacock... It was a really small museum and we had only 30 mins so we had to run for our boat trip back to opera house where we fought the rain and went back to the cantorial railway station to have lunch... Macdonalds this time after last night's bad experience... Cheeseburger meal regular costs a hefty NOK59 x 4... Which is almost S$12 for a meal... Wtf! I can almost buy two meals back home in Singapore... I appreciate our prices now... The vat here can range from 20-25% which is ridiculously high... But we saw the taiwanese doctor again and they were leaving back for Taiwan after 9 days of tour and they saw the northern lights! I wanna see it too! Then we went to buy milk NOK17 x 2 and pizza wraps NOK55 x 2 and baguet NOK55 for our dinner... And proceeded to buy bananas before heading back to Oslo budget hotel to slack the rest of the evening away... Slept till morning...
