Copenhagen to London day 12
Friday, November 04, 2011, 12:56 PM
Reached gatwick airport.. Navigated our way to the Gatwick express... Then took the half hour train to victoria station where to our horror, there was no escalators or lifts as they were under repair... So we had to lug our heavy luggages down the stairs... Then we found the queue to buy tube tickets was really long so we tried the ticketing machines but found we needed a 4 figured pin to our credit card for purchasing tickets... So we gave up and went back to the queue... Bought 5 x £6.60 day tickets then proceeded on the Victoria line to change at green park to Russell square station. To our horror once again, there was no lift from the platform to the ground level... So another flight of long stairs thankfully this time with the help of a friendly Londoner with my big luggage up the stairs... He did it without batting an eyelid or expecting a thank you... I must say my first impression of London is not that bad after all... At first he was helping min with our smallest luggage piece then he saw my big luggage and yet he still offered to carry it... How kind.. Then up another lift to the ticketing hall. Ko navigated and we started our longer than ever walk to the generator hostel due to our heavy luggages. We were shocked at the room condition but still went along with it for 3 nights... Then after a short rest, we went out to meet krystal at covent garden. She didn't buy tickets to the musical wicked due to some misunderstandings of my email but we soon got over that part and continued to walk to he apple market where we took some photos. Then off we went to Chinatown where we finally had some meat.. Char siew, duck and roast meat with RICE. You cannot imagine how much we missed rice throughout this trip... So after dinner was a short walk to M&M world where we had loads of photos taken and loads of fun... Feels like a child in a candy store and it literally is... Then was heading back to the hostel for some shut eye as it was a tiring day for all of us...
