London day 14
Friday, November 04, 2011, 1:00 PM
Last day in London before the Europe tour. We spent it watching the change of guards whole morning to see almost nothing because of the crowd. But I enjoyed the walk there as we passed St. James park with a lot of squirrels that were unafraid of humans and birds like the swans, ducks, goose, pigeons, sparrows and the occasional crow. Our slow and tired feet brought us to old street station for fifteen restaurant a Jamie Oliver foundation sponsored restaurant meant to help teens to be useful in the society. Only 18 persons between ages 18 - 25 per year is selected and trained to work in the restaurant. I must say the service standards surprised me and the food was artistically docerated wight he taste matching the settings. The whole atmosphere was cosy and welcoming. We had rose wine with our food and enjoyed the little leisure time we had... I had lamb and although the portion wasn't entirely big, the pasta did satisfy my hungry stomach. The bad reviews were totally unfounded. We decided to give Camden town a miss and also gave up on the nitrogen ice cream and headed down to Oxford street via marble arch where we had a glimpse of Hyde park with nothing much to see.. Were almost charged sitting on the beach chairs as we didn't know it would cost £1.50 per hour and £7 per day. So we headed back to shopping paradise where I only bought 2 belts at £2.50 and £1. A real good bargain I would say. Then went to see selfriges & co where everything was expensive. Then we went to buy some water and headed home where we stop by a Chinese restaurant opened by two hong kong brothers (mostly English speaking but speaks weird Cantonese too). We order dinner sets that cost £7.80 and had a good laugh because when we asked what flavor was the ice cream he replied ice cream is ice cream lo... Hilarious.. It was the second funniest thing other than the secret that happened in the toilet! Back to the hotel for packing and some rest.
